Gemma Veterinary Assistant
About Gemma
Gemma graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. She discovered her love for animals early on, growing up with a small zoo in her room consisting of guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, fish, a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit, and an African Pygmy Hedgehog. She began her journey by volunteering at the SPCA at age 13. During college, she immersed herself in veterinary medicine by interning at Broadview Animal Hospital and the South Florida Center for Wildlife. Her commitment extended globally as she volunteered at the Rainforest Awareness Rescue and Education Center in Peru, gaining valuable insights into wildlife conservation. Gemma conducted research at the UNH dairy barn, focusing on animal nutrition and health. Outside of work, Gemma enjoys hiking, kayaking, pottery, and travel. With a wealth of hands-on experience and a strong academic background, she is eagerly preparing to apply for veterinary school in the fall of 2025. Driven by her aspiration to make a significant impact in conservation medicine, she hopes to work in animal rehabilitation in the future.
