End-of-Life Pet Care in Greenland

Here at Greenland Veterinary Hospital, we want to be your pet’s veterinarian through every life stage, including the final one. As pet owners ourselves, we understand how special pets can be to a person and to a family. They’re our loyal companions when we need company and our “snuggle buddies” when we want to watch movies on a rainy day. But when their quality of life declines, sometimes putting them to sleep is something that just has to happen. We know you want your companion’s last days to be comfortable, which is why we offer end-of-life care services, including euthanasia and hospice. We can also help you and your family make the difficult end-of-life care decisions.

End-of-Life Pet CareIn-Home Pet Hospice (Comfort) Care

When a pet is terminally ill, and treatment is no longer effective, hospice care is often the best choice. This service involves solely providing comfort for a pet without providing new treatment. Ultimately, hospice care (palliative care) is intended to help you prepare for your pet’s final days, whether they precede a natural death or euthanasia. We offer hospice care in the comfort of your home and tailor it to your pet’s needs. We also provide detailed information about your pet’s health, as this is the most significant aspect of hospice care.

In-Home Pet Euthanasia

If you decide that it’s time to put your pet down, we offer in-office and at-home euthanasia. With at-home euthanasia, your companion can relax in her favorite place, whether it’s on a bed or on the living room couch. We’ll give you as much or as little information as you’re comfortable with about what to expect. We’ll also discuss your aftercare options (cremation or burial).
